The Off Road Log Haulage Ltd concept of 2 staging effectively moves the skid site out to the forest edge or to the side of a road, anywhere up to several kilometers from the tree felling area.

The key advantages of this approach include:

• Reduced site preparation costs through the shared use of skid sites across multiple felling areas

• Less environmental impact and reduced infrastructure cost by not having to form tracks or roads suitable for road going trucks and trailers

• Health & Safety - sort and process logs in a safe controlled environment

These advantages can result in better overall returns for, or make viable, forestry plantations in hilly or difficult to reach areas.

OUR TRUCKS

Our fleet of trucks have differential locks on all axles with tractor grip tyres or triple rear wheels for better traction and floatation while still maintaining normal on road speeds. The fleet can be operated safely to a maximum gradient of 1 in 4 compared with 1 in 8 for normal road going trucks.

Upwards of 1,000 tons per day of logs can be transported on a 3.5km round trip with two Off Road Log Haulage Ltd Trucks at a cost significantly less than other systems.
